Is there anything to do when it rains?

The barn has the good chairs and a wood stove going by September. Otherwise Blue Hill is twenty minutes and has a bookshop, a co-op and two galleries that stay open in weather.

Can we swim off the property?

Off the ledge at high tide, from July. It is cold and it is deep straight off, so it suits confident swimmers. The sand at Mountainville is a fifteen minute drive and much gentler.

Do we need a car?

Yes. There is no service out here and the nearest store is eleven minutes. Guests who fly into Bangor rent at the airport, which is an hour and ten.

How is the phone signal?

Patchy in the house, better on the porch, gone at the cabins. Wifi reaches the main rooms and the first cabin. Most people stop checking by the second day.

Are children and dogs alright?

Both, in the cabins and in Eider. The second floor rooms are quiet ones and we keep them that way, so we will move you rather than put a cot in The Reach.

What time can we get in?

Three, and Nell is on the porch until eight. Later than that, say so when you book and the key is in the boathouse with your name on it.
